Sneak Peak for Miss Kristen :)

I have recently had the pleasure to work with a very amazing young woman. Kristen was a true joy to photograph. She has a captivating smile that pulls you in, eyes that light up and a laugh that is contagious!!! She is wise way beyond her years and has a heart of gold. She is a senior this year and we are doing a cool twist to the traditional senior photos. We are doing a seasonal concept that I’m very excited about. So with out without further ado, here are some sneak peaks from this Fall.

Kansas City Walk and Chalk Festival at Crown Center…the kids section was a favorite of mine….here are some of the big masterpieces by the little artists!

0 notes

Last weekend we enjoyed Kansas City Walk and Chalk Festival at Crown Center. Artists transform empty squares of asphalt into pieces of artwork. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. June 18, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. June 19. Crown Center Square. kcchalkandwalk.org

I am going to enter as an artist next year and create a chalk piece for the festival. This year I was asked to submit my photos for the director of the festival to use :) Can’t wait for next year to create a cool chalk piece to lay aside the other amazing ones that are sure to come. So next year on Fathers Day weekend come check it out at Crown Center if you are in the area! Fun for the whole family!!!

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

Hello,

I wanted to share with you some fantastic projects I’m working on at the current moment and some that are on my “in the near future to-do list”…and if you’re wondering, yes I’m insane about my to-do list. I have different ones organized by themes and dated for when I hopefully wish to have them completed by. Crazy I know but it works for me. Any-hoo, on my Quilt to-do list…I have been wanting to give a go at Amandajeans ticker tape quilt for awhile now. I have tons of scraps that I just couldn’t bring myself to part with and now they have a chance to shine yet again.

Annabelle my daughter who is 4yrs old has always loved watching me sew…usually just to the point of me finishing her never-ending princess request for some animal or creature she wants us to create on the fly I might add, on the sewing machine. And with out fail, I somehow manage to make it. Even as I’m writing this I have a sweet little girl standing beside me saying” Mom can we make…Yabba, Finlay, and Ruffy…”(from Timmy Time) she loves new books/cartoons where it’s impossible to go and buy them and get them the same day. Waiting for that pkg from the UK seems like an eternity for a little one. I still order her ones sometimes but end up making lots too. I just made her yesterday Mittens the cat from same cartoon. Makes me happy the homemade ones are the ones she loves the most and drags around with her everywhere we go. *Proud Mommy Moment*

She is very creative and is Momma’s big helper. She recently just finished her 1st pillow she machine sewed it with my help of course, but she did an outstanding job. This ticker tape quilt I thought would be an excellent 1st quilt for her to help with, since she loves cutting…she helped cut up a few of the scraps that were too big and once I got it all sandwiched and basted together she sat on my lap and helped sew on all the scraps. Not all of them…I’m not running a sweat shop here, lol. But as much as she wanted to. So this is a great easy to do quilt for beginners or a way to get the kids involved. There are some truly jaw-dropping ticker tape quilts that I have seen, that look like it took months to accomplish. But these seem to go together rather quickly. I will post pictures of ours tomorrow so you can see it. As well as some of my favorites others have created. I took a little video clip of her helping earlier, too cute! Sorry it’s sideways though…

We bow our heads in reverence to Kodachrome film’s 74 years as a photography icon. Only one remaining lab in the world still processes Kodachrome, and they will run their last prints this December. April Rocha, a devotee of Kodachrome and other endangered and nearly-extinct forms of photography, sent this shot to us and delivered the sad news. Maybe you remember photographer Steve McCurry, whose portrait of Sharbat Gula, or the “Afghan Girl,” graced the cover of a 1984 National Geographic. Steve requested that Kodak allow him to shoot the last roll of 36 frames it would manufacture, and vowed to document the entire life of the roll. “It’s definitely the end of an era,” he said. “It has such a wonderful color palette … a poetic look, not particularly garish or cartoonish, but wonderful, true colors.”
If you have any Kodachrome shots you’d like to share with us, send them our way and we’ll post them on the blog. If you haven’t processed them yet, better send them to Dwayne’s posthaste.
Kodachrome, we’re not worthy. Here’s to a more patient, flawed, passionate and saturated age.

Just a few old favorites of some of the most adorable kiddos ever…

I love using natural light!!! It’s so much fun to be able to capture children and their true personalities.

I took this one at Deanna Rose Farmstead of my daughter playing on the playing ground, but yet it looks like it was done in a studio.Look at those long eyelashes! I love the composition in this one.

Isn’t she just one of the most precious little girls ever!!!!

He’s gonna be a heart breaker with that charm…

Best friends, out enjoying some sweet sunshine.

My beautiful baby girl…Oh how I love you.

Seascapes of the Beautiful Beaches on Florida’s Anna Maria Island.

I love the beach!!! Everything about it…the smell, sound, sand, seashells, swimming in the salty water and of course the sweet SUNSETS. Since Summers coming to an end here in the Midwest I figured I’d post some photos from the beach, my favorite vacation spot. Soon the cold weather will start settling in, suntans will fade :( days will get shorter. But…all the wonders of Fall are sure to come, picking apples, pumpkin patches, beautiful Fall foliage, hot apple cider, bonfires, and dressing up for Halloween. I have a love-hate relationship with the changing of seasons, I hate seeing the current one slip away but love looking forward to the new one to come.
